• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience leading technical project strategy, ML design, and optimizing industry-scale ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine-tuning).
• 8 years of experience with Speech/audio (e.g., technology duplicating and responding to the human voice), reinforcement learning (e.g., sequential decision making), ML infrastructure, or specialization in another ML field.
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
  • 3 years of experience working in a matrixed organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
  • Experience with low-level programming.
  • Experience with ML compilers and runtimes.
  • Experience with TPUs, TPU system design, or GPUs.About the JobAs a Software Engineering Manager, you will have the technical expertise to provide leadership to major projects and manage a team of engineers. You will optimize your own code and ensure that engineers are able to optimize theirs. You will manage project goals, contribute to product strategy, and help develop your team.In this role, you will be responsible for providing expertise over the compiler and runtime boundary, developing annual roadmaps, driving technical alignment, and translating strategy into priorities and projects.Responsibilities:
    • Lead a team of Engineers to develop end-to-end testing, serving, and training solutions for Google ML.
    • Drive technical strategy and roadmaps for infrastructure development.
    • Identify and build stable, standardized APIs for internal products.
    • Build a strong technical bench and balanced team level and execution posture.
    • Gracefully and incrementally migrate existing frameworks (TensorFlow, JAX, PyTorch) and product area's custom workflows onto ML Runtime, minimizing any user disruption.CompensationThe US base salary range for this full-time position is $189,000-$284,000 + bonus + equity + benefits.
