SummaryThe Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life seeks a highly
motivated, student-centered, and dedicated professional to serve as
the Assistant Director primarily working with the Interfraternity
Council (IFC). Under the supervision of the Director, the Assistant
Director will provide assistance and support to the over
175-year-old fraternity and sorority community on campus in the
areas of program development, risk management, and the promotion of
leadership.Role SummaryProvides a co-curricular experience that
provides opportunities for learning and development outside of the
classroom experience.Examples of Work Performed
- Assists in providing leadership and management oversight to the
University's social fraternities and sororities and works primarily
with the Interfraternity Council (CPH).
- Directly advises chapter presidents from the 16 organizations
and their respective executive boards, standards boards,
recruitment processes and related committees and programs in
collaboration with other FSL staff.
- Develops, implements, and evaluates leadership
training/educational programs on issues that impact students
including but not limited to new member development, senior
transition, risk management, officer trainings, event planning, and
conflict management, either independently or through campus
partners collaborations.
- Supervises, trains, and evaluates a Graduate Assistant.
- Manages and works with student leaders to plan fraternity and
sorority recruitment and intake efforts.
- Manages and oversees FSL-wide community signature programming
including but not limited to FSL Excellence Awards, STANDKind harm
reduction series, and leadership programs.
- Develops print, web materials and social media related to
Fraternity & Sorority Life.
- Assists with fraternity and sorority conduct matters as
determined by the Office of Conflict Resolution and Student
Conduct.
- Serves as a liaison between the University and advisors and
member organization's national headquarters.
- Assists in the development of assessment, retention, and
strategic plans for the Office of Fraternity & Sorority Life.
- Serves on Student Affairs and University-wide committees. Also,
represents the University of Mississippi within fraternity and
sorority professional associations and organizations.
- Performs related or similar duties as required or
assigned.Essential FunctionsThese essential functions include, but
are not limited to, the following:
- Oversees scheduling logistics, securing resources, and
facilitating one or more student programs, activities and/or
services, which may include special events, student organizations,
student publications, and student governance structures.
- Assists with the design and delivery of student-focused
programming and associated resources and materials to promote new
and ongoing programs and initiatives.
- Answers questions and provides information and resources to
individual students and groups based on established materials and
standards.
- Assists with advising and training student workers and
volunteers as needed.Education: Bachelor's DegreeExperience: (3)
Three Years ExperienceAn equivalent combination of related
experience and education may be considered for this role.
Substitutions of the required experience or education will be
assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.Preferred
QualificationsMasters and 2 years of related experience
